Top Reasons to Digital Scrapbook

Haven’t tried digital scrapbooking yet?  Have you considered …

All your pictures are digital.  No more extra trips to the store to pick up your prints.  Simply use them as is.  Added benefit to digital – free enlargements, just grab a corner and drag as big as you want.

Memories are important.  We live in such a fast paced culture that we need to capture and preserve the memories that we’re making them and then enjoy them again and again through a published storybook.

Extra copies are easy.  No more fighting over who gets to keep the baby books.  Just order 2, one for baby and one for mom (and one for grandma and auntie too).

No more boxes of unused stuff.  Come on, I know you have at least one box of crafty supplies you bought that you never got around to using.  Digital art is all online, I don’t even need to use up my own hard drive space to store it.

Share what you’re doing online.  So easy to say, “Look what I made!” on Facebook or a blog rather than waiting the next friend to visit so you can brag about your creative genius and get some lovin’.

If you’re ready to try digital scrapbooking, head over to www.MyPublishedStorybooks.com and create a free Heritage Makers account and give it a go.  I’ll be there to help you every step of the way.

Becoming

Who knew that making photo storybooks for my family could result in personal transformation and a journey of “becoming”. Here is my story.

When I signed on as a Heritage Makers consultant, I had no expectations or aspirations other than to receive a discount on my own published projects. Soon afterward I sensed that I had joined something bigger than myself with a mission of strengthening families that I resonated with. I cautiously ventured into the business and found that it satisfied several of my needs – to be creative, to serve, to belong, to be purposeful, to be needed, to teach, to lead, to achieve.

The journey has been both challenging and rewarding by choosing and then persistently pursuing a path that was unknown and gaining so much from the process. Heritage Makers is much more than a J-O-B. It truly can be a life changing experience. At the beginning, I didn’t realize that I needed to “become” anything. Although I wasn’t satisfied with where I was at in life, I didn’t really know where I wanted to be. Attending Dream Team helped me to determine and voice what really matters most to me. It gave me a rudder to steer the direction of my life. I became determinedly intentional in deepening my relationship with God, with my husband, and with my children. I prioritized my time to be in better balance between family and work. I redefined my “why” for being a Heritage Maker and made it bigger than myself, focusing on others rather than myself. I was finally “becoming” …

With so much happening on the inside, outward chances began to take place as well. I once heard the quip, ‘A leader is a reader’ and so I read books from business to beauty, and marriage to make-up. I learned how to make better food choices, how to be current and dress with confidence without getting lost in consumerism.

Through this journey of life, with my Heritage Makers business as my vehicle, I am becoming a wiser business woman, a more loving wife, a kinder mother. In short, a better person. And I am still “becoming”…

How to Resize Digital Photos

Did you get a new high-resolution big-megapixel digital camera for Christmas? If so, your photos may be larger than necessary.  To use the Heritage Makers site for example, to create photo storybooks, custom canvases, yearbooks, calendars, cards and more through online digital scrapbooking, the maximum size limits are 10MB and under with a maximum dimension size of 4800×4800 pixels. If your images are larger than those limits, you’ll need to do a quick re-size for your images stored in your Heritage Makers photo albums. Simply follow the instructions below, using www.fotosizer.com to batch re-size them, upload them to HM, then delete the smaller copies off your computer, leaving the full-size originals where you downloaded them from your camera or memory card.

Free Art this April for Digital Scrapbookers

Want some fresh color in your publishing projects now that spring’s first touches of green and gold have appeared? Whether you dream of buds and blossoms or peacock feathers, our April Premier art offerings will add a welcome splash of color to your creativity.

In muted, modern colors, the elegant “Elements of Spring” collection by Jill Means of Legacy Digital Design was created for any post-winter project, but contains many Easter and Mother’s Day elements, including an adorable chocolate rabbit. Alongside the many full-color items, a paper overlay, an egg and a dozen or so word art pieces are provided in Jill Mean’s popular, color-customizable .png format.

Butterflies, bees and glitter-edged blossoms are among the 124 elements found in the “Summer Garden” collection from Inspiration Lane. A true mega kit, these garden-glorious elements are accompanied by 44 cheerful papers and a smattering of seasonally appropriate word art.

“Travel the World: India, Elements” and “Travel the World: India, Papers” by Julia Makotinsky offer the lush colors and textures of exotic India. The tropical flowers, peacocks feathers, swirls, and vines can be used for elegant gifts and greetings as well as for food and travel-inspired pages.

“My Life & Story: An Autobiography Kit” by Jady Day Studio of ScrapMatters and its accompanying typewriter-key alphabet is our second extra-large collection. This sea foam green, modern red, and gentle gold collection is packed with coordinated papers, journaling blocks, and word art designed to tell any life story in a bright and cheerful fashion.

The fifth in our color coordinated “365 Days With You” month-by-month series, “365 Days With You: May” by Lauren Grier and Shawna Clingerman of Sweet Shoppe Designs is rainbow bright and full of spring weather embellishments.

“Backyard Cuties: Laundry Pack” and “Backyard Crawlies: Laundry Pack” by Lliella Designs of Sweet Shoppe Designs are the perfect partners to storybook your toddler’s life and progress. From chore charts and book embellishments to party invitations for the sandbox set, these collections will help get spring and summer projects off to a lighter-hearted start.

Rounding out our April art offering are “Moment de Douceur Clusters” by Fambas of DigitalCrea and “Little Black Dress Papers” by Eva Kipler, of Sweet Shoppe Designs. The baby-themed forget-me-not cluster collection makes designing a card or canvas a simple breeze. For an entirely different look-and-feel, the black and white papers of our “Little Black Dress” paper pack add a touch of elegance specially designed for more formal occasions.

April brings hundreds and hundreds of new art pieces, and the many templates made from them, to Studio this month. With a Club HM account, this art and these templates are free to you. You can use your Club HM account to build a pool of points, so when you’re ready, you can publish painlessly. Cherish the Love: Head Start on Valentine’s Day

Last night I attended a Digi Crop and was very inspired by all the ladies who attended and who are striving to cherish the memories that their families are making together. Published storybooks were shared, new ideas generated, the wish-list of to-do projects grew, and advice abounded on putting the finishing touches on tribute books and a lovely “tucked in” bedtime storybook. What a privilege to be part of it all.

For me, I was there to finish up a birthday card and make some Valentine’s for my kids. I also had the opportunity to share the “10 Reasons I Love You” books I made for my children last year, they’re still a favourite for each of my kids. I had to dig Katrina’s out from her bed. Take a look:

To help you with your own Valentine’s Day projects, here are some digital scrapbooking collections that are available for free if you do your publishing through Club HM at Heritage Makers:

Post Christmas Joy!

Ahhhh, I love the feel of today.  The busyness of the holidays is behind me, we enjoyed a wonderful week with the in-laws, the house is my own again, the kids are playing nicely together downstairs and I have a few minutes to myself.  What do to, what to do?

I already am caught up on facebook – but that can be a dangerous time waster as I look at the time and wonder where the last 2 hours went to?  Sure it was only 20 minutes… Definitely time to practice blogging again. So thanks in advance for stopping by and having a read. I hope you leave informed, amused, inspired, motivated…I have a lot of improvement, I know!

So like I said, “Ahhhhh” it’s a beautiful wintery day!  Perfect for a hot cup of tea and curled up indoors.  Time to pull out the photos from my camera from the last few days and see what I have to work with.  It would be nice to send Grandma and Grandpa a little photobook highlighting the activities we did together while they were here.   Maybe create a tobogganing poster for the kids’ rooms.  I took a quick peek at all the Christmas Collections available in the Digital Art section of my favourite digital scrapbooking site – Heritage Makers www.mypublishedstorybooks.com – and was pleased to see I have lots to work with.  Let me share some with you.  Maybe it will inspire you today too!
